Baseball Game at RNA Showgrounds - BrisbaneBrisbane is hot on the heels of Sydney and Melbourne when it comes to attracting tourists from all part of the globe. More visitors are making their way to the capital of Queensland every year, all of them hoping to experience all the best that the city has to offer. From exciting surfing spots to breathtaking views found in its natural parks, there are many great reasons to visit Brisbane.

The most popular tourist attractions are great, but to truly experience all the best of the city, you need to go where the locals go. You can still do all the touristy stuff, yes, but enrich your experience by living like the locals do for a few days. Here’s a look at some of the most important things to do in Brisbane:

See a Baseball Game

Aussies are into sports, and not many people are aware of it, but a lot of them love baseball. In Brisbane, you can catch the home team—the Brisbane Bandits—show off their game at the Brisbane Exhibition Ground, also known as the RNA Showgrounds. Luckily, you can easily find a good accommodation near the RNA Showgrounds if you want quicker access to their games.

Watch the Dolphins Surf

Brisbanites head out to North Stradbroke Island to get away from the city every once in a while. It is just a short ferry ride away from the Moreton Bay, and is a great spot to go fishing, kayaking, and sandboarding. You can even watch dolphins surf if you are lucky.

Listen to Local Bands and Performers

Fortitude Valley is a suburb in central Brisbane and is a hub of nightlife and entertainment. One of the best things to do in Fortitude Valley is watch local talents as they showcase their sound. You can even make new friends or meet these performers.

Kayak Up the River

Last but not least, make sure to include kayaking on your itinerary. You can see many of the city’s beautiful sights by kayaking on the Brisbane River. After paddling, you can have your fill of fresh prawns right off the grill and wash it all down with Australian beer.

Brisbane is a happening city with so much to offer. Make the most your stay in the city by going where the locals go.
